Because we are made in the image of God, our words

Because we are made in the image of God, our words are weighty, just like His. And just like His, our words have the power to add value, honor, and worth to a person.

But all too often, instead of valuing a person, our words corrode. Instead of honoring, they cheapen, undermine, and destroy.

Brothers and sisters, this should not be.

Take time everyday to take careful stock of your words:
• in what ways do you need to be silent?
• in what ways do you need to speak?
• in what ways do your words add value to your community?
• in what ways do your words tear the fabric of your community apart?

Be honest about your words, humble yourself under God’s hand, and let His perfect Word shape your words to be more like His.

If you are in a season of transition, don’t rush out of the sacred slow. Pause in it. Let God use it to bring to the surface what has been hidden under the rush of hurry so that He can heal, redeem, and restore. Seasons of activity will come, so for right now, rest. Revival comes from the secret places of the heart that reveal themselves only when we sit still.
