My Story
I grew up in Houston, Texas with a desire to go on the overseas mission field to help people as a medical doctor, but there was only one problem: my brain turned to mush during math and science! While spending my junior year of college at Wheaton College, I heard one of my professors, Lyle Dorsett, say words that forever changed my life: “Some of you in this room want to be medical doctors. But God is raising up a generation of people, some of whom are in this room, to be doctors of the soul.” At that moment, the direction of my life changed. I knew God was calling me to be a doctor of the soul and to help people heal through connection and restorative relationship with Jesus Christ. I came home to Texas, graduated from Texas A&M University, and moved to Houston to begin my own journey of healing and restoration. In normal, everyday life, I regularly encounter the power of God to save and restore normal, everyday people like you and me through His Word and prayer. I love to write resources for people to use in their own healing journey, teach Bible Studies, and lead Restore retreats with one amazing group of women! Most days, you can find me at home with my family, writing, teaching, and praying for healing for people in my generation, connecting with women over coffee or on a run, or on a hike in the mountains whenever I get the chance for an adventure.
My Family
Apart from Jesus Christ, my greatest love is my husband, Jason. We have been married for over twenty years and have four beautiful daughters.
Our youngest we adopted from China when she was seventeen months old. Her journey of healing spurred on our own journey of healing and restoration as well. Through her, we learned how to restore our past and rebuild our present, trusting God as our good Heavenly Father. As a family, we love spending time together with God in His Word, on our knees in prayer, and asking Him to use us together for restoration for a generation.
My Vision
Restored life comes through healing the real pain and brokenness from the past.
We don’t bury the past, forget the past, or linger too long in the past, but we bring the past to Jesus and let Him transform our pain through the healing power of His Spirit and Word. Our greatest sorrows become the seeds for our greatest joys as we learn to see our past through a different lens.
My Mission
I want to come alongside people in their stories to help them:
Remember the past.
Restore the soul.
Rebuild the ruins.
Reshape the family.
I believe Restoration for our Generation happens one story, one soul, one person, and one family at time... beginning with you and me.
